Sima Davarian announced as our parliamentary spokesperson for South West Devon
I am delighted to be the Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesperson for South West Devon, in addition to standing for Plymstock Dunstone in the local elections this May.
I have been an active member of the Liberal Democrats since 2010. During this time I have been involved in a number of local and national campaigns, and also stood as a local council candidate.
Living in Plymstock, I am aware of what the local region has to offer, but I am keen to learn more about what people in South West Devon want from their local representatives and what the Liberal Democrats can contribute.
Currently a secondary school teacher in the city, I have worked in both the private and public sector and witnessed the positive impact that policies such as the Pupil Premium have brought to individual students. However, I am concerned about the future funding of education and the variety of challenges faced by local schools.
Other important issues affecting Plymstock Dunstone and South West Devon as a whole are the effects of central government cuts on local authorities and the impact this will have on local services. However Brexit is finalised, it will have an impact on all of us, and I am keen to open up a dialogue and find solutions to the inevitable future challenges.
If elected I would be a committed representative and I would bring a fresh perspective to the role.
