Plymouth Lib Dems AGM, 2021
Our AGM on 6th November went quite well.
It has to be planned some way in advance, and as we couldn't predict the state of the pandemic , we went for the "hybrid" approach, giving members the option of meeting together for real, or joining in via Zoom. We were lucky that our chosen venue, the Quaker House, had already installed some excellent equipment, complete with projector and really big screen.
We were also fortunate in getting a guest speaker, via Zoom, Lord Andrew Stunell, who took an interest in our local activities, as well as giving us his planned talk about the state of play in the House of Lords. Always good to get insight from people on the spot in Westminster, and the benefit of years of experience in politics.
In the event, the pandemic hadn't worsened, or not much, so, within the constraints of health and Safety and risk assessments, most attendees were in person, with a few joining on Zoom.
Meeting people in real life was almost like a new experience, and pleasant of course, with the odd little personal conversations at the end, that you don't always get on line.
Notwithstanding the good things about our AGM, I was personally grateful to our chairman for keeping the procedings moving on track, as I got back to the car before the 3 hours free parking ran out!
