News from the campaign trail
There are only two more days of campaigning to go before election day! Plymouth Lib Dems have made a huge effort over the course of the campaign. Locally, we have campaigned in South West Devon and Plymouth Moor View, although we have candidates standing in all three Plymouth constituencies. We have also supported Liberal Democrat candidates across Devon and Cornwall, with a particular focus on Sarah Wollaston's campaign in Totnes.
We would like to thank our volunteers, particularly for the effort involved in campaigning across South West Devon for Sima Davarian, and for travelling to Totnes for Sarah Wollaston.
It has been great to support Sarah Wollaston in Totnes over the last few weeks. Lots of our members joined the Action Day at the weekend. This was followed by a Hustings arranged by the local Green Party, where Sarah Wollaston made the best case for being elected.
The Totnes Green Party candidate stood aside as part of the Unite To Remain agreement between the Liberal Democrats, the Green Party and Plaid Cymru. All three parties have stood aside from each other in a number of seats, to support remaining in the EU and proportional representation.
South West Devon Liberal Democrat candidate Sima Davarian took part in a Churches Together hustings at the weekend, along with Labour's Alex Beverley and the Conservative's Gary Streeter. Sima gave thoughtful and dignified answers to a broad range of audience questions. Sima has taken part in several hustings over the course of the campaign and has given several interviews for local media.
On top of canvassing, leafleting, talking to voters, and delivering letters, there have been some lovely views on the campaign trail.
Other recent sightings include the Devon for Europe digivan, which is recommending voting Liberal Democrat for Sarah Wollaston in Totnes.
We are looking forward to the last couple of days of campaigning.
