May 2023 Election Manifesto Launched
LIBERAL DEMOCRATS FOR PLYMOUTH
A better Plymouth for all.
Liberal Democrats want to fix the things you say do not work.
We believe in a fairer society where everyone has the same opportunities.
The Liberal Democrats take a different approach.
Liberal Democrats stand for: fairness, freedom, internationalism, investing in education, long term thinking, the environment, giving power to everyone, making decisions locally, listening to people.
93% of people go to state schools. They should have the same chances to reach the top as the minority who are privately educated.
Sunak's government is one of the least popular in the last 45 years. This is reflected in the local council where Conservatives have left the party to become independent. The government looks tired, mired in scandal, and beset by crises of their own making, from strikes to NHS waiting lists to food shortages in supermarkets.
People have lost faith in politics.
We understand this and want to show you it can be better.
Our key points:
- We like working with people not against them.
- We will work with other parties to fix they city's problems.
- We will work with South West Water to clean up the seas and rivers.
- Road and building works must be finished before more roads are closed.
- Following the disgraceful way the Conservatives chose to tear down so many trees on Armada Way (largely against public opinion) and with the Labour group watching on, Liberal Democrats will call for Tree Preservation Orders to be placed on the remaining Grade A & B trees in the City Centre.
- We support the reopening of Plymouth Airport.
