Plymouth Liberal Democrats reacting to the vote of no confidence in the conservative leadership, has said today

"When Plymouth is again facing a financial crisis in part due the ping pong politics of the Conservative and Labour local councillors, they are once again distracted by infighting over who should be in charge in the run up to local elections. Instead of quibbling about who's in charge they should be working for the people of Plymouth. We deserve better. We can't afford a council more concerned about their ego then serving their community."

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson Christopher Oram said: "We support the removal of Councillor Nick Kelly as leader of Plymouth City Council and hope that the next leader, Councillor Bingley, will be a more effective and inclusive leader. The fact that Councillor Kelly didn't resign after his distasteful comments about violence against women was bad enough. It is regrettable that Councillor Kelly had to be pushed from the leadership rather than resigning some time ago."
